Benjamin Chan
Founder and Managing Director

With extensive engineering, financial and legal experience, Benjamin brings high-level advice on medical device project planning, design and development, material selection, manufacturing solutions and regulatory and compliance assistance to the MediConcepts team.

Founding MediConcepts in 2002, Benjamin comes from a generational background in manufacturing and has served the Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare IndustriesAssociation (HKMHDIA) for more than 14 years, acting as Deputy Chairman from 2012 to 2020.

Benjamin is actively engaged in medical device regulatory development in Hong Kong, serving as director and treasurer of the Asian Harmonization Working Parties.

Benjamin is currently the Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also serving as the Industrial Advisory Committee Member of the Medical Engineering Programme of the Faculty of Engineering, the University of Hong Kong since 2007.

Benjamin has a Master of Science (2018) in Perioperative Care of Minimal Access Surgery from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce(1995) and a Bachelor of Laws (1996) from the University of Melbourne.

 

Gene Tang
Co-Founder and General Manager

Gene sets up the quality management system of MediConcepts, handling process control and implementing our policy of zero defect readiness.

With an extensive background in business technology, enterprise resource planning (ERP) development, client relationship management (CRM) systems, office automation and website development for multi-national corporation and listed companies, Gene provides expert assistance in design verification, medical device regulation, process validation, risk management and even assisting customers in the commercialisation of their medical products.

Gene has been serving the community through a range of non-profit organizations for over 23 years. Gene was elected as the National President of the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong (JCIHK) in 2010, helping train thousands of youth in serving the community and enhancing their personal potential.

Gene was a member of the All China Youth Federation; Honorary Director of the YELITES Group; President of Sha Tin West District Scout Association of Hong Kong and Honorary Treasurer of the Hong Kong Youth Exchange Promotion United Association.

Gene was also appointed by the HKSAR Government as a Council Member of the Lord Wilson United World Colleges Scholarship Fund and served in the Award Committee of the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence.

Gene holds a Bachelor degree of electrical engineering and a Bachelor degree of computer science from The University of Melbourne.
