Laprascopic Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery a.k.a. Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) is less invasive than open surgery used for the same purpose. MIS typically involves use of laparoscopic devices and remote-control manipulation of instruments with indirect observation of the surgical field through an endoscope or similar device, and is carried out through the skin or through a body cavity or anatomical opening. This may usually result in shorter hospital stays, or allow outpatient treatment.

MediConcepts designs and manufactures components and complete medical devices used in MIS including:

  • Trocars
  • Scissors
  • Retractor
  • Tissue Retrieval System

Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery
Natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) or incissionless surgery is a surgical technique whereby “scarless” abdominal operations can be performed with an endoscope passed through a natural orifice (mouth, urethra, anus, etc.) then through an internal incision in the stomach, vagina, bladder or colon, thus avoiding any external incisions or scars

MediConcepts manufactures components used on NOTES such as:

  • Incisionless operating platform for endolumenal surgery
  • Tissue grasper and needle driver
  • Suturing device

Cosmetic Implant

Prominent Ears (or Bat Ears) creates psychological distress to children (or adults). MediConcepts is engaged in the design and manufacturing of an ear scaffolding device to rebuild the ear profile by inserting nitinol (NiTi) implants into children’s ears.

NITI Spine Implant for Scoliosis

MediConcepts has since 2005 participated in a research program initiated by a group of leading orthopaedics surgeons from the University of Hong Kong on development a new spine implant using NiTi with its surface treated by plasma immersion technology for treating scoliosis patients.

Robotic Surgical Platform

MediConcepts has recently support the Chinese University of Hong Kong in its research program aiming to develop robotic surgical platform for specific treatment.
